More than 100 football coaches from clubs across Borno State are set to participate in a groundbreaking 2-day coaching clinic focused on modern training methods, sports development, and player transfer systems.
The workshop, organized by members of the Borno State Football Club Owners Association, will hold from August 10 to August 11, 2026 at the FA Conference Hall, El-Kanemi Sports Complex, Maiduguri.
Themed 'Developing Basic Coaching Techniques, Understanding the Importance of Squad Management and Building Financial Stability to Clubs', the clinic is aimed at equipping coaches with contemporary knowledge to enhance youth football development in the state.
Sessions will cover basic first aid in sports and the importance of education for players, alongside modules on modern coaching methodologies, squad management, and strategies for building financially stable clubs.
The initiative is being supported by FA Chairman, Alh. Babagana Kalli Ozogola, and Chairman of the Borno State Football Club Owners Association, Ibrahim Mohammed Abubakar, IBB, both cited for their commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable sports development in the state.
A major highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of the 2026/27 Babagana Kalli Ozogola FA Cup Competition, including the first draws and announcement of the kick-off date for what organizers describe as the most exciting competition in the state.
Organizers said the clinic will provide coaches with practical tools to improve grassroots football, manage teams effectively, and prepare players both on and off the pitch.
The Borno State Football Club Owners Association called on all registered clubs to ensure full participation as part of efforts to raise the standard of football in the state.
The event is expected to draw coaches, club owners, sports administrators, and other stakeholders from across Borno.
