There is a glimmer of hope for residents of Maiduguri as the floodwaters that devastated many parts of the city have started to recede.
According to residents of Fori and Aji-Alari, two communities closest to the source of the river, the water flow began retreating on Tuesday evening.
Musa Ibrahim, a resident of Fori, confirmed that the water started receding around 3:00 PM.
'The water has started retreating, and about 15 meters have gone so far,' he said.
Our reporter, who visited affected locations in the two areas, also confirmed the development.
While many residents whose houses were submerged by the water earlier on Tuesday have evacuated, some residents in the area are still residing in their homes.
As the water force continues to subsidize, the water is drawing back, bringing relief to affected residents.
'Alhamdulillah, the water force is reducing, and the water that entered my neighbor's house has started reducing,' our reporter, who is also in one of the flooded areas, confirmed.
