A 15-year-old boy from Kwavamti Village in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State was rescued by police after being kidnapped by six gunmen.
The incident occurred at approximately 01:00AM on Thursday when the gunmen stormed the village, abducting the teenager.
However, the Borno State Police Command received intel and swiftly mobilized to track the kidnappers.
According to a statement issued by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesman, officers from the Gubio Divisional Police Headquarters confronted the kidnappers, leading to their retreat.
'The police successfully rescued the victim and recovered two AK47 rifles,' he said.
Daso said that five people, including 70-year-old Baba Fantami, sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.
'They received medical treatment at the Primary Health Care Centre in Gubio and have since been discharged,' he added.
Commissioner of Police ML Yusufu commended the bravery and dedication of the Gubio Divisional Police officers, assuring the public of the command's commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
