The Borno State House of Assembly has passed the second reading of the 2025 budget.


The budget was presented to the floor of the house by Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum, on Monday.


The budget, which amounts to N584,757,725,000, aims to address the needs of the people in all sectors.


During the sitting on Wednesday presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alh. Abdulkarim Lawan, lawmakers were urged to deliberate on the appropriation bill.


The leader of the house, Hon. Dige Muhammad of Kala Balge, encouraged members to accelerate the passage of the bill.


Several lawmakers, including Hon. Alh. Ali Kotoko of MMC, Hon. Abba Kyari Abba Kolo of Jere, and Hon. Bukar Modu of Konduga, commended the synergy between the legislative and executive arms of government and praised Gov. Zulum for presenting the budget.


The speaker referred the bill to various committees of the house, and a motion for the ascent of the appropriation bill was moved by Hon. Mohamed Ibrahim Inuwa Kubo of Shani and seconded by Hon. Jamna Bong of Abadam.


The house also received a complaint on injustice by participants of the FG Alert in Borno and urged the legislature to intervene. The house has adjourned its sitting until Tuesday, December 24.
