In a move aimed at ensuring the best possible medical care for wounded soldiers, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered the transfer of wounded soldiers receiving treatment at Maimalari Cantonment to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.

The COAS gave the order on Saturday during a visit to the wounded soldiers at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State.

This visit is part of his ongoing tour of the state, which began on Thursday.

During his visit to Maiduguri, Lt. Gen. Oluyede visited the Headquarters Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, where he received briefings from various commanders and also visited the command hospital, theatre training school, among other activities.

According to Lt. Gen. Oluyede, the decision to transfer the wounded soldiers to Kaduna was necessitated by the fact that some of their situations require the specialized care available at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.

The transfer order is expected to provide the wounded soldiers with access to the necessary medical care and facilities, thereby enhancing their chances of full recovery.

Speaking to journalists, Lt. Gen. Oluyede disclosed that he will prioritize improving the welfare of troops fighting the over decade-long Boko Haram crisis in the North East region.

He also assured that he will restrategize ways to combat the insurgents, demonstrating his commitment to the troops' well-being and the success of the counterinsurgency operations.

The COAS's visit to the wounded soldiers is seen as a morale booster for the troops fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the North East region.
