In a significant step towards improving immunization coverage, stakeholders from various sectors gathered in Borno State to validate the 2024 Immunization Budget Accountability Annual Scorecard.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Mala Abdulwahab, Acting Executive Secretary of the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board, was held on Wednesday evening at Nanne and Boi Hotel, Maiduguri.

The meeting aimed to track immunization budget financing, advocate for more funding, and ensure prompt budget releases.

The immunization scorecard is designed to promote transparency in budget expenditure and enhance immunization coverage.

Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), emphasized the significance of the scorecard in advocating for improved immunization coverage.

The meeting received positive feedback from stakeholders, who praised the process of creating a valid document to enhance immunization coverage in the state.

Stakeholders were encouraged to provide feedback on the draft scorecard ahead of its public presentation.

The successful validation meeting is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing immunization coverage in Borno State, particularly in reducing the burden of zero-dose communities.

The meeting was attended by health practitioners, NGOs, CSOs, media, traditional leaders among others.
