The Nigeria Police Force, Borno State Command, has launched a community outreach program to commemorate National Police Day.

The event, held on Wednesday at the ITE Police Division, Baga Road, brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, government representatives, and key stakeholders to address security concerns, crime prevention strategies, and enhance cooperation between the police and the public.

National Police Day, scheduled for April 7, aims to honor the sacrifices and dedication of police officers while strengthening community engagement and public trust.

The command has assured its commitment to a successful celebration, featuring a week-long series of community-focused activities from April 2 to April 7.

While speaking, Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, emphasized the Nigeria Police Force's dedication to public service, trust-building, and security.

'This celebration is not just about the police, but about the people we serve. We are here to engage, collaborate, and work together for a safer society,' he said.

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Chairman, Abatcha Umar, represented by Ismail Abdulkadir, thanked the CP for organizing the event and assured continuous support in combating crime.

Hajiya Kaltume Jafar, Deputy PCRC Chairwoman, highlighted the importance of honoring police officers, particularly in Borno State, who put their lives on the line daily to keep communities safe.

She emphasized the pivotal role of women in law enforcement support.

'As PCRC women, we have unique perspectives on the importance of law enforcement in our communities. We know that police officers are not just enforcers of the law but also guidance, mentors, and role models,' she said.
