Several Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have been killed in New Marte, Borno State, following a nighttime attack on the community.
The terrorists launched the attack on at about 1:35AM today, but were met with stiff resistance from troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
According to a statement from the military, in a joint land and air operation, the Nigerian troops successfully repelled the attack, neutralizing a number of the terrorists.
The exact number of terrorists killed is yet to be confirmed, but sources indicate that several were neutralized.
Unfortunately, the clash also resulted in the loss of two Nigerian soldiers, who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The statement said the troops are currently in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists.
