The Borno State Government has declared Thursday, June 26, a public holiday to commemorate the beginning of the new Islamic year 1447 After Hijrah.

In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, announced that all institutions, including offices, schools, and financial institutions, will observe the work-free day.

Tijani called on residents to use the occasion for reflection and spiritual renewal, seeking a more prosperous and peaceful Borno.

'Let me use this opportunity to congratulate the Muslim Ummah and the entire people of the state for witnessing the new year,' he said.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum urged residents to continue praying for peace, development, and socio-economic advancement in the state, aligning with his administration's post-insurgency recovery efforts.

The SSG reassured the government's commitment to providing more dividends of democracy to the people of Borno, expressing hope that the new Islamic year will bring progress and prosperity to the state.
