A swarm of bees attacked students taking the National Examination Council (NECO) exam at Mairi Islamic Science Secondary School in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday morning.
The sudden attack forced students and teachers to flee the school premises in search of safety.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing students abandoning their books, shoes, bags, and even bicycles as they ran away from the school.
According to one student taking the exam, the bees had a hive in the school but hadn't attacked before.
'We were writing Arabic language when the bees attacked us. I don't know what caused the attack today,' the student said.
This incident comes just days after a similar bee attack occurred at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi School along Bama Road.
The Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation oversees education in the state, including ensuring school safety. However, incidents like these highlight the need for measures to protect students from unexpected threats.
The attack disrupted the smooth conduct of the NECO exam, causing concern among students, teachers, and parents.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
