Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has announced a planned power outage that will affect parts of Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe States.

The outage is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 10, and will last until 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

According to a statement released by YEDC on Tuesday, the disruption in power supply is due to major maintenance and upgrade works being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Jos-Gombe 330kV and Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 132kV transmission lines.

The project includes the installation of new transmission towers at the Bauchi 330kV station and the crossing of an existing 132kV line.

During this period, key injection substations in Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo will be completely out of supply.

To mitigate the impact, certain areas will be supplied from alternative sources.

Biu will receive power from the Dadin Kowa Hydro plant, while Baga Road substation in Maiduguri will be back-fed from the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP).

Additionally, Nguru, Machina, and surrounding areas will be supplied via the 33kV Nguru feeder.

YEDC emphasized that the project is being led by TCN and is part of broader efforts to strengthen the regional transmission network.

The company assured customers that normal electricity supply will be restored as soon as the work is completed.

'We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period,' the statement read.
