The Federal Government has commenced the sale of rice to civil servants in Borno State at a subsidized rate of N40,000 per bag.
This was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Borno State, dated July 23, 2025, and signed by Dr. Muhammad A. Ghuluze, the Head of Service.
The circular was addressed to all permanent secretaries and heads of extra-ministerial departments and agencies across the state.
According to the circular, the initiative is part of a federal intervention to assist civil servants facing financial pressure due to the rising cost of food items in the open market.
The consignment of rice delivered to the state will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Each ministry, department, and agency (MDA) has been directed to compile a verifiable list of interested civil servants, in line with the number of bags allocated to their respective offices.
The process will be coordinated through the permanent secretaries and chief executives of boards and agencies.
The Head of Service urged all concerned parties to ensure wide publicity of the circular and full compliance with its directives.
