The remains of former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, were laid to rest on Tuesday evening in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The burial took place at his residence in Daura, marking the final farewell to the late statesman.

President Buhari passed away on Sunday evening at a clinic in London, where he was receiving treatment.

His remains were brought back to Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon by a Federal Government delegation led by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, accompanied by the late President's wife, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, and other family members. They arrived at the Musa Yar'adua International Airport in Katsina.

The body was accompanied to Daura by a host of dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former presidents, vice presidents, governors, ministers, and top government officials.

Thousands of people from within and outside the country attended the burial ceremony, paying their last respects to the late President. Friends, associates, and colleagues were also present to pay their final respects to the departed soul.

The late President was buried according to Islamic rites, in line with the traditions of the Muslim faith.
