Healthcare workers in Borno State have been recognized for their exceptional service delivery at the Dr. Aminu Magashi 4th Annual Awards.
The ceremony was held at Amada International Hotels in Maiduguri, coinciding with the Zero Dose Learning Hub quarterly meeting.
The awardees include Dr. Dauda Anto Waziri from Maiduguri, who was recognized as the Most Dedicated PHC Staff (Male).
Mrs. Falmata Musa from Biu Local Government Area was honored as the Most Dedicated PHC Staff (Female).
Ali Mohammed received the Most Committed Volunteer PHC Staff award. Falmata Abatcha from Nganzai Local Government Area was recognized as the Most Patient-Friendly PHC Staff (Female), while Karumi Sanda from Konduga Local Government Area received the Most Patient-Friendly PHC Staff (Male) award. Additionally, Ali Musa from Jere and Mrs. Yagana Saleh from Monguno were honored as the Best Performing Local Government Officers.
The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) initiated these awards to recognize and appreciate the hard work of frontline health workers.
Dr. Magashi emphasized the importance of acknowledging the contributions of healthcare workers.
'I have a desk and shelves full of awards, I don't need it anymore, I rather prefer it to go to the frontline workers, and that is how the idea of initiating an annual awards in my name came about,' he said.
The AMG Foundation has been hosting these awards annually, with the aim of motivating healthcare workers to continue delivering quality services.
As Dr. Magashi noted, the awards are a way to "motivate them to continue delivering quality services."
The foundation plans to extend the awards to other states and introduce a new category for health journalists.
