The Borno State Police Command has organized a specialized training on professional handling of exhibits and forensic evidence for officers serving in Maiduguri.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesman, the training was conducted following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid.

The program, coordinated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) through its Forensic Unit, focused on improving officers’ skills in fingerprint recovery and evidence management at crime scenes.

The session was led by ASP Yusuf Habila Jauro and a team of forensic experts who trained participants on proper recovery, documentation, and preservation of exhibits to ensure credibility and admissibility during prosecution.

Officers were also taught fingerprint collection using modern forensic tools and materials to achieve accuracy and reliability.

The training covered essential procedures such as labeling exhibits, packaging them securely, and signing across seals to preserve the chain of custody.

ASP Yusuf stressed that every recovered exhibit must be recorded, labeled, and transported safely to prevent contamination or tampering.

He added that professionalism in handling exhibits is critical to credible investigations and sustaining public confidence in police operations.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism, integrity, and accountability in delivering justice and ensuring public safety.
