The Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) wrapped up its annual staff retreat on Thursday, zeroing in on strengthening administrative efficiency, elevating service delivery, and energizing its workforce.

The retreat, a long‑standing BOGIS tradition, brought together staff to review yearly performance, celebrate achievements, and build capacity for the challenges ahead.

While declaring the event opened, the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe sai that the program was designed to consolidate gains made by the agency and boost productivity.

He noted that despite workforce changes caused by retirement, death, and transfers, BOGIS has continued to record steady growth and improved service delivery.

The ES stressed the importance of continuous training, urging participants to give close attention to resource persons and actively engage in all sessions.

While speaking, BOGIS Legal Adviser, Barr. Mustapha Ali Ibrahim and director of administration and supply, Yakili Zannah described the retreat as timely and relevant, calling on staff to apply the knowledge gained to improve administrative practices and workplace efficiency.

Presenting a paper titled “Motivation for optimal performance and productivity in the public service," Dr. Umar Alkali Goni emphasized that staff motivation is central to quality service delivery.

He identified a conducive working environment, availability of office equipment, continuous training, and staff welfare as key drivers of productivity, commending the Executive Secretary for his commitment to staff motivation, including sponsorship of Muslim and Christian staff for pilgrimage.

Mohammed Kagu of Abba Ashigar College of Business and Management Studies, Konduga, delivered a paper on “Public personnel administration,” defining it as the systematic management of human resources in government institutions through planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and sustaining a productive workforce.

Other presentations covered administrative skills, clerical operations, effective workflows, and workplace communication as tools for promoting efficiency.

Participant Usman Lamini, Babagana Bunu, Barrister Sharifa, and Alheri Andurus praised BOGIS leadership for its sustained investment in staff development, noting that the retreat has improved staff morale, professionalism, and service delivery.

The retreat also featured a poem by Isabella Ibrahim, a JSS One student, recognizing Engr. Bababe’s leadership and commitment to land reforms in Borno State.

BOGIS noted that the retreat is a long‑standing tradition aimed at reviewing annual performance, reflecting on achievements, and strengthening staff capacity for sustained efficiency.
