The Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding illegal land transactions within the state.

The agency in a statement on Monday, emphasised that purchasing or selling land without obtaining the governor's consent is a violation of the Land qUse Act and constitutes a criminal offense.

According to BOGIS, illegal subdivisions of existing titles and unauthorised designs of layouts into plots are rampant in several locations across Borno, including Molai, Moromti/Njimtilo, Chabbal/Limanti, Tungushe, Gongulong Lawanti, Dusuman/Koshebe, Muna, Kofa/Dalori, and Gombole Road.

The agency identified several land vendors engaging in these illegal activities, including Reality Land Vendor, Hammab Land Vendor, A.A. Ajibest, Jigalta Land Vendor, Guarantee Land Vendor, M. Gana Properties and Estate Agents, Pro-Shelter Property Enterprises, Multe Global Ventures Ltd., and others.

BOGIS warns that engaging in land transactions with these vendors without the required consent poses significant risks, including severe legal repercussions and potential loss of resources.

The agency plans to initiate actions against all violators.

For more information, BOGIS is available for inquiries and consultations regarding land management and administration.

The public is advised to exercise caution and ensure compliance with the Land Use Act to avoid legal consequences.
