The Borno State Police Command has released its operational scorecard for 2025, highlighting arrests, recoveries, and prosecutions recorded across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, in a statement issued on Tuesday said the achievements were recorded through sustained patrols, intelligence-led policing, prompt response to distress calls, and collaboration with other security agencies.

He said police operations covered all 27 local government areas of Borno State during the period under review.

According to the Command, 2,610 suspects were arrested for various crimes in 2025.

The Command also investigated and prosecuted 1,023 cases, securing convictions and reflecting improved investigative capacity.

Police operatives recovered eight assorted arms and 54 rounds of ammunition during the operations.

The Command also recovered 41 cutlasses and knives from suspected criminal elements.

In its counter-terrorism efforts, nine unexploded ordnances and improvised explosive devices were recovered and safely neutralized.

The police rescued 18 kidnapped victims through coordinated operations.

The Command also recovered 27 stolen vehicles and 187 mobile phones, which are undergoing verification for return to their owners.

A cache of hard drugs and other illicit substances valued at ₦5,774,340 was recovered, disrupting drug distribution networks in the state.

Abdulmajid acknowledged that the Command’s performance was built on an existing operational foundation before he assumed office on June 8, 2025.

He said the achievements reflected continuity, collective effort, and professionalism of officers and men of the Command despite Borno’s security challenges.

The Commissioner said the Command aligns with the vision of Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, which emphasizes professionalism, accountability, human rights, and community policing.

He said intelligence-led policing will be the Command’s core strategy for crime prevention and detection in 2026.

Abdulmajid said collaboration with sister security agencies, community stakeholders, and partners would be strengthened to ensure coordinated responses to security threats.

He said police patrols and visibility would be intensified in urban and rural areas with improved surveillance and monitoring.

The Commissioner added that officers would undergo continuous training to improve professionalism, modern policing skills, and human rights compliance.

He said the Command would expand community engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations.

Abdulmajid assured residents that the police would remain proactive, neutral, and responsive to emerging security realities.

He urged the public to support the police with timely information and law-abiding conduct, noting that security is a shared responsibility.

The Borno State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring a safe environment for socio-economic activities in 2026 and beyond.
