The Borno State Government has directed all public and private basic and secondary schools to close daily not later than 1:00 p.m. throughout the Ramadan fasting period.
The decision was contained in an addendum to the 2025/2026 school calendar issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation on Tuesday.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Abba Mala Galtimari, director of schools management, the adjustment is intended to support observance of the holy month of Ramadan (1447 AH).
All academic activities for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session are to be concluded on or before Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Issuance of report cards and other post-terminal examination administrative processes may take place afterward as appropriate.
The third term of the 2025/2026 academic session will commence on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The ministry urged all stakeholders, including school administrators and proprietors, to ensure full compliance with the directive.
Officials also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and understanding of stakeholders across the state.
