Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has renominated Hon. Zuwaira Gambo as Commissioner-designate, marking her return to the State Executive Council.

Gambo, who is also a Board of Trustee member of Lake Chad Times Newspaper, served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Zulum’s earlier cabinet.

Her name was forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly, BOHA, on Tuesday alongside two other nominees: Hon. Bukar Mustapha Dallatu and Barr. Hauwa Abubakar.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, read the governor’s Executive Communication during plenary, formally beginning the process for their confirmation.

Gambo’s renomination has drawn attention due to her track record in the last administration.

As commissioner, she coordinated rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for victims of insurgency and repentant Boko Haram members.

Her ministry also led support efforts for displaced women, vulnerable children, and survivors of gender-based violence across the state.

She spearheaded several social protection initiatives and empowerment programmes for widows, orphans, and other groups affected by the over decade-long insurgency in Borno.

Following Tuesday’s plenary, the Assembly resolved that all three nominees will appear before lawmakers for screening in line with constitutional procedures.
