Hon. Adam Isa Badamasi, popularly known as Adam Jere, has donated drugs and medical supplies worth over N1 million to support the Borno State Government’s efforts to combat a cholera outbreak affecting parts of Maiduguri and its environs.

The donation was distributed on behalf of Adam Jere by his aides to health facilities across Jere Local Government Area.

Beneficiaries include Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital, Mashamari Ward; Dalaram Primary Health Care Centre, Old Maiduguri; Dusuman Primary Health Care Centre; Maimusari Primary Health Care Centre; and Zabarmari Primary Health Care Centre.

Speaking through his representatives, Adam Jere commended Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum for his swift intervention.

He praised the governor for deploying urgent measures, drugs, medical personnel, and logistics to prevent further spread of the disease.

In addition to the medical supplies, Adam Jere provided cash support to volunteer health workers at the various centres.

He said the gesture was to complement their efforts and encourage them to continue delivering quality healthcare to patients during the outbreak.

He also urged residents of Jere LGA to observe strict hygiene practices to curb cholera transmission.

Adam advised them to keep their environment clean, wash hands regularly before meals and after using the toilet, and adhere to other health guidelines issued by health authorities.

Cholera outbreaks often occur during the rainy season in areas with limited access to clean water and sanitation.

Health officials continue to sensitize communities across Borno on prevention measures.
