The Union of Campus Journalists at the University of Maiduguri has partnered with Lake Chad Times and Yerwa Express News to launch a journalism fellowship for student reporters.
The program, known as the Unimaid Campus Journalism Fellowship, is designed to help students gain practical reporting experience and prepare for professional media work.
Selected fellows will receive mentorship from editors in the partner newsrooms and will have their stories published on both platforms.
The fellowship will focus on environmental reporting, science and health reporting, and campus and community issues.
Participants will take part in training sessions on mobile journalism, data reporting, and media ethics.
Organizers said the program will also help students build a portfolio of published work under editorial supervision.
Details on eligibility, application guidelines, and timelines will be released soon.
Students of the University of Maiduguri interested in journalism are encouraged to prepare their story ideas ahead of the application process.
