Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly attacked a military formation in Mairari, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to sources, the attack which occurred on October 13, 2026, led to the killing of a number of soldiers and civilians.

The attack comes a few days after terrorists launched a multi-directional assault on a military formation in Kukawa, which was repelled by troops of the Nigerian military killing 25 terrorists.

The latest incident in Guzamala is part of a renewed wave of attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP targeting military formations in the northern part of Borno State, raising serious security concerns.

Just recently, a report by Yerwa Express News said ISWAP terrorists carted away over 40 fishing boats belonging to fishermen in Tumbun Barebari, popularly known as Abujan Ruwa, in the Lake Chad region of the state.

Details regarding the number of casualties in the Mairari attack remain sketchy as of press time, as the Nigerian military is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
