Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State have been thrown into total blackout for almost 72 hours following a disruption in electricity supply.
The Borno State Government confirmed the outage in a public notice issued on Friday by the ministry of transport and energy.
The ministry said the disruption was occasioned by a setback on the grid transmission network serving the state's electricity supply cluster.
The ministry also disclosed that the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant is down due to a technical fault and is currently undergoing repairs.
It said the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in collaboration with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) is working tirelessly to resolve the situation and restore normal supply soonest.
'While these efforts are ongoing, the ministry appeals to members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperative in safeguarding all electricity installations and infrastructure within or around their communities,' the statement read.
The ministry appreciated the patience and understanding of the people of Borno State and assured that restoration efforts are ongoing for immediate resolution.
