A Yobe State High Court-1 sitting in Damaturu has sentenced a 45-year-old man, Abubakar Musa, popularly known as Daddy, to death by hanging for killing his wife, Ammi Mamman.
The Nigerian Police, Yobe State Command, had on January 4, 2024, arrested the convict after he allegedly killed his wife at New Bra-Bra Housing Estate, Damaturu, and subsequently charged him to court for culpable homicide.
Two years after the incident, the Judge of the Yobe State High Court 1 rejected the defendant's plea of not guilty, noting that based on the evidence before the court, such plea was not plausible.
The court held that the prosecution was able to establish all the ingredients of culpable homicide and had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
By law, the convict is at liberty to appeal the judgment within the stipulated period, failure of which will lead to the full implementation of the sentence.
