The Shehu of Dikwa, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Elkanemi, has appealed to the federal government to extend the reconstruction of the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Ngala Road to Kala-Balge.

He made the call on Sunday during his inauguration, where he received the staff of office from Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.

The Shehu emphasized the importance of the road extension, highlighting that Kala-Balge is the only Local Government headquarters that relocates to another place during the rainy season due to inaccessible roads.

According to him, the relocation not only disrupts the lives of residents but also hinders economic development and access to essential services.

In his inaugural speech, the Shehu expressed gratitude to the state government for following traditional procedures that led to his ascension to the throne.

He pledged to support people-oriented programs and services of the government, commending Gov. Zulum's developmental projects across the state.

The Shehu also acknowledged the government's efforts in resettling Logumani and Gajibo communities, providing them with necessary social amenities.

He praised the government's synergy, capacity, and sincerity of purpose, which have enabled the people to explore the area's agricultural and other potentials.

While in his remarks, Gov. Zulum, assured the people of Borno State that normalcy will return to the state before the end of his tenure.

He commended the military, security agencies, and the people of Borno State for their resilience during the trying times of insurgency, which began in 2009.

The governor promised to work closely with Sen. Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, and the National Assembly to rehabilitate the Dikwa-Maiduguri Road and restore electricity to Dikwa town within the next month.
