The Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Council, has expressed its appreciation to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for appointing one of its members, Comrade Dauda Iliya, as the special adviser on media communication and strategy.
This came in an official statement signed on Saturday, by the secretary of the chapel, Ismail Alfa Abdulrahim.
The leadership and members of the Correspondents' Chapel commended the governor's decision, describing it as 'well thought out' due to Comrade Iliya’s extensive experience and dedication in the field of journalism.
'The appointment of Comrade Dauda Iliya reflects his hard work, commitment, and team spirit, qualities that have been evident throughout his career,' the statement read.
The chapel highlighted Iliya’s previous leadership roles within the NUJ Borno State Council, noting that his vision and leadership had been an inspiration to many journalists in the state.
The Correspondents' Chapel assured the governor and the newly appointed spokesman of their full support and cooperation in fulfilling the responsibilities of the new role.
'We are confident that Comrade Dauda Iliya will excel in his duties and contribute positively to the communication strategy of the administration,' Alfa said.
The chapel also emphasized its commitment to maintaining a harmonious relationship with the state government, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between the government and working journalists across the state.
They extended their best wishes to Comrade Iliya as he embarks on this new assignment, urging him to view the role as a 'trust and call to duty.'
They further expressed hope for continued cooperation between the government and journalists in Borno State, particularly in supporting the administration’s communication efforts.
