A series of police raids in Borno State has resulted in the arrest of twenty-three suspects for possession of dangerous weapons, drugs, and illicit substances.

The raids, aimed at ensuring security during the Yuletide season, were carried out by the Borno State Police Command's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Anti-Vice Patrol team.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.

According to him, on December 15, 2024, the RRS raided a black spot in the Texaco Area along Baga Road, arresting nineteen suspects.

He said during the raid, the police found 118 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 196 pieces of Zola tablets were seized, along with a bottle of the toxic substance known as 'suck and die'.

ASP Daso added that the police also recovered a 1 of charms from the suspects.

In a separate operation on the same day, the command's Anti-Vice Patrol team arrested four suspects in the Gamboru, Old Maiduguri, and Lamisula areas.

The suspects were caught with two knives and two wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

ASP Daso assured that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face court charges upon completion of the process.

He warned criminal elements to desist from their activities or face legal repercussions.

In the statement, the police command, under Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, Commissioner of Police, assured residents of tight security measures throughout the festive season, emphasizing their commitment to public safety and security.
