The Local Organising Committee, LOC for the 5th Lake Chad Basin Governors' Forum has assured participants of robust security measures, comprehensive health services, and a state-of-the-art media centre to facilitate effective coverage of the forum.
The forum, themed 'Rebuilding the Lake Chad Basin: Consolidating gains, commitment to peace, cross-border cooperation, security, and sustainable development for a resilient community,' aims to strengthen regional cooperation and address pressing challenges facing the Lake Chad Basin region.
According to a statement on Monday by Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, Secretary to the Yobe State Government and Chairman of the LOC said, 'Hosting this forum underscores Yobe State’s dedication to addressing the challenges facing the Lake Chad Basin region.'
The forum will bring together governors, traditional leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from the Lake Chad Basin region to discuss strategies for promoting peace, security, and sustainable development.
Key objectives includes, strengthening regional cooperation and cross-border collaboration, addressing pressing challenges facing the Lake Chad Basin region.
It will foster partnerships among governments, development partners, civil society organisations, and traditional leaders.
It will also promote sustainable development and resilience in the region.
The event is slated to hold from January 29 to 31, 2025, in Maiduguri, Borno State.
