Police have arrested a 22-year-old suspected drug peddler, Kabura Kayuram, in possession of 116 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in Maiduguri, Borno State.


According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the arrest was made possible by credible information received by the Command Anti-Vice Squad, which led to the suspect's apprehension at Jajeri Ward in Maiduguri.


He said the suspect and the exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Maiduguri for further investigation and prosecution.


He added that this arrest is part of the police command's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in the state.


'The command has reaffirmed its commitment to community-centered policing to combat social vices and other crimes,' he reaffirmed.


In the statement, parents and guardians have been advised to remain vigilant and monitor their children's activities to prevent them from getting involved in criminal activities.
