His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has announced that the crescent moon for the month of Ramadan 1446 has been sighted today in Nigeria.

The announcement was made during a briefing on Friday evening.

Consequently, tomorrow, Saturday, March 1, 2025, will marked the first day of Ramadan 1446 AH.

Muslim faithful across Nigeria are expected to commence their 29 or 30 days of fasting, depending on the sighting of the moon.

The fasting period, known as Sawm, is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for all able-bodied Muslims.

The Ramadan fasting is expected to end on April 1, 2025, with the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri, subject to the sighting of the moon.

Muslims are advised to seize the opportunity of the holy month to seek spiritual rejuvenation, forgiveness, and blessings from Allah.
