The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) Borno State Chapter has inaugurated its interim executive council.
This follows the national election of the SNB, held in Abuja last year, where Professor Umaru Pate was elected as the pioneer president.
The SNB aims to unite serving and retired broadcasters to address issues related to broadcasting and other related matters.
It also seeks to establish close ties with similar societies and associations worldwide.
Alhaji Adamu Isa Abadam, former general manager of Borno Radio and TV, was elected as the North East Zonal vice president and will lead the society's affairs in the region.
During the inauguration ceremony in Maiduguri, the Zonal Vice President charged the newly inducted interim committee in Borno State to prioritize the mobilization of new members across all broadcast media organizations in the state.
Abubakar Muhammad, zonal director of NTA Maiduguri, who was inducted as the chairman of the SNB's state chapter, expressed confidence that the state has the potential for the largest membership in the region.
He noted the presence of eight broadcast stations and three universities offering mass communication programs within the state.
He urged the newly inaugurated members to embark on advocacy visits to all broadcast stations and engage with potential members about the SNB and the opportunities it offers.
Other members of the interim executive committee include Dr. Nassir Abba Aji from the University of Maiduguri as Vice Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Uba Yusuf as Secretary, Hauwa Bata Wakirwa from FRCN as Treasurer, and Boyi Gagaya as Publicity Secretary.
