A fire incident occurred at Kayat Restaurant, located along Old GRA Circular Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, on Sunday morning.
The incident, which was reported at approximately 11:40am, was promptly responded to by the Borno State Police Command and other emergency services.
According to the command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, swiftly deployed the Divisional Police Officer of GRA Division and team to the scene.
The team, in collaboration with the state and federal fire services, successfully contained and extinguished the blaze.
'The police also ensured the protection of the property and prevented theft or looting during the emergency,' ASP Daso said.
He added that preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical malfunction. Fortunately, no life was lost in the incident.
ASP Daso noted that the value of properties affected is still being ascertained.
The police command has advised members of the public to exercise caution when handling electrical appliances and installations.
