Security forces are searching for 13 girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State's Askira-Uba Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon while the girls were working on a farm in Mussa District.

According to the Borno State Police Command, a combined team of police, military, and local vigilantes immediately launched a rescue operation after receiving reports from the District Head of Huyum District.

During the operation, one victim managed to escape and was rescued unharmed.

Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Abdulmajid has reassured the public that search and rescue efforts continue for the remaining 13 abducted girls.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and advised farmers to work within areas covered by security patrols.

The police command has promised to provide further updates as the operation progresses.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria, where terrorist groups continue to target civilian populations.
