The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has arrived in Maiduguri for an operational visit to the troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai.

The Saturday visit comes on the heels of recent deadly attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.

The COAS was received by the theatre commander, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, GOC 7 Division and other top army officials at the Air Force Base, Maiduguri.

His visit is expected to focus on the recent series of attacks by the terrorists, including the deadly assault on Ngoshe town in Gwoza Local Government Area, which left many dead, mostly women and children, and many more displaced and abducted.

The army has been battling to repel attacks in several areas, including Konduga, Jakana, Mainok, and Marte, where some soldiers, including a commanding officer, lost their lives. However, the troops successfully repelled the attacks.

During his visit, the COAS is expected to receive briefings at the theatre command and visit wounded troops receiving treatment.
