Power has been restored to some Northern Nigerian states after a prolonged blackout, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Wednesday.

TCN spokesman Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that bulk power supply was restored through the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 at 4:56 pm on Wednesday.

According to him, the restoration follows the completion of repairs on the vandalized section.

The states affected by the blackout that have regained power supply include: Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi and Gombe States.

Mbah noted that TCN engineers are preparing to repair the second 330kV transmission line, with necessary materials already on site. Work will commence once the area is secured.

'We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as our engineers work diligently to restore the 330kV transmission line 2.

'TCN recognizes electricity's importance in daily life and is committed to swift repairs,' he said.

Terrorist vandalism of a transmission tower caused the blackout, disrupting power supply to the region.
