In a bid to enhance immunization budget tracking and accountability, members of the Borno Community of Practice (CoP) have embarked on a facility tour of select Primary Health Care (PHC) centers in Jere Local Government Area (LGA).

This exercise seeks to reduce Zero Dose Children in Borno State by improving immunization budget tracking, accountability, and sustainability.

The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) and the Africa Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is implementing the Gavi funded Zero dose learning hub project in Borno state with the support of the Borno state primary healthcare management board and other immunization partners in the state.

Led by Dr. Adamu Alhassan Umar, the AHBN Borno State Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) Focal person, the delegation visited two PHCs in Jere LGA, including Dalaram PHC.

The team interacted with facility staff, discussing key issues such as cold chain storage, routine immunization (RI) and maternal and child health (MCH) activities, outreaches, community relationships, and provision of basic amenities.

The facility tour is a follow-up to a similar exercise conducted in two PHCs in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) last month.

The initiative aims to promote transparency and accountability in immunization budgeting and service delivery.

Other members of the delegation included Ismail Auwal, AFENET State MERL officer; Comrade Ali Yerima Gamboru, Chairman of the CoP Sub-Committee on youth, traditional, and social media engagement; Ms. Agnes Edor, Secretary of the CoP Sub-Committee on Youth, traditional, and social media engagement; and Musa Hassan Wakirwa, a media representative.
