In a bid to address the challenges of out-of-school youths and unemployment, the Borno State Government has established two Second-Chance Women/Girls Skills Entrepreneurship Schools.

This initiative is part of the state government's efforts to prioritize Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, made this announcement during the inauguration of Government Secondary School Mairi by the World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Dr. Ndiame Diop, on Tuesday.

According to the governor, the two schools are designed to provide women and girls with the opportunity to acquire entrepreneurial skills, thereby empowering them to become self-reliant and economically independent.

The state government aims to train approximately 5,000 artisans annually, which will help address the unemployment challenges facing the state.

He added that in addition to the two schools, the state government has also reactivated nine existing vocational training centers.

These centers will provide training in various vocational skills, enabling youths to acquire the skills needed to secure employment or start their own businesses.

By providing women and girls with entrepreneurial skills, the state government is empowering them to become economically independent and self-reliant.
