The Borno State Police Command bid a fond farewell to its Commissioner of Police, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, as he retired from the Nigeria Police Force after 33 years of dedicated service.

A pulling-out parade was held in his honor at the Police College in Maiduguri on Sunday, marking the culmination of his illustrious career.

CP Lawal assumed office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police in Borno on July 13, 2023, bringing his wealth of experience to the role.

During his tenure, he worked to ensure peace and security in the state, often collaborating with other security agencies to achieve this goal.

In his farewell remarks, CP Lawal expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve as the Commissioner of Police in Borno.

He praised the IGP's transformational vision, which aims to create a more professional and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force.

'The transformational vision of the IGP has been a clarion call to a more professional and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force, one we all earnestly desire,' he said.

The retiring CP also thanked the force management team for their support and guidance throughout his service.

He emphasized the importance of unity within the police force.

'I wish to thank the entire Police family and shall continue to foster communality in the overall interest of the Nigeria Police Force,' he added.

CP Lawal's retirement marks the end of an era, but his impact on the Nigeria Police Force will be felt for years to come.
