Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 10 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Southern Lake Chad region of Borno State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, acting deputy director of army public relations said, the operation was carried out by the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, targeted ISWAP/Boko Haram hideouts in the Manawaji area, situated between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, near the Cameroon border.
According to the statement, the troops launched a series of coordinated offensives aimed at eliminating terrorist threats and restoring peace to the region.
During the operation, troops made contact with the terrorists, resulting in an intense firefight.
The well-equipped and determined soldiers neutralized ten insurgents who, according to intelligence reports, had been actively disrupting peace in the area.
Capt. Kovangiya added that a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, including anti-aircraft rounds suspected to have been stolen during an earlier attack on the Cameroonian Defence Force.
He praised the troops for their bravery and professionalism, adding that they remain committed to denying terrorists freedom of action in the region.
He also emphasized that the offensive would be sustained across the entire North East in line with the directives of the chief of defence staff and the mandate of Operation Hadin Kai.
