A high-powered delegation from the Borno State Government has visited Banki town in Bama Local Government Area following a recent Boko Haram attack that claimed lives, displaced residents, and destroyed property.
The visit was aimed at consoling affected families, assessing the level of destruction, strengthening collaboration with security stakeholders, and reaffirming the government’s commitment to peace, security, and reconstruction in the community.
The delegation was led on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with residents, inspected damaged properties, and conveyed Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s condolences and solidarity with the affected community.
They assured the people of immediate government interventions to ease their hardship and restore confidence in the community’s resilience.
The delegation also held a strategic meeting with local security volunteers, including members of the Civilian JTF, hunters, vigilantes, and Kesh-Kesh.
Professor Tar praised their courage and sacrifice in defending the community and assured them of continued government support.
Engr. Wakilbe commended their bravery and resilience, stressing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten in the collective effort to restore peace across the state.
As a mark of appreciation, financial support was provided to the security groups.
The team later traveled to Mora in neighboring Cameroon to visit victims receiving medical treatment, where they offered financial assistance and joined residents for the third-day prayers in honor of those who lost their lives.
They also paid a courtesy visit to Brigadier General P.A. Ayoola, Commander of the Brigade in charge of the area, to discuss enhanced military–civilian collaboration.
The delegation concluded the visit at the palace of the Shehu of Bama, where they briefed him on their mission and sought his royal blessings.
The visit reaffirmed the Borno State Government’s determination to support affected communities, strengthen local security initiatives, provide humanitarian assistance, and accelerate the reconstruction and resettlement process.
It also underscored the administration’s commitment to deepening collaboration with security stakeholders, strengthening community resilience, and rebuilding confidence among displaced persons returning to their ancestral homes.
