Sequel to the approval of the new 70k minimum wage to civil servants in Borno state, similar gesture was extended to primary school teachers in the state this Friday.

This follows one week after the N70k minimum wage was paid to the civil servants working for Borno State Government for their October salaries.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum announced the approval of the pay rise for workers in the state on October 10 in a meeting with the minimum wage implementation committee members.

This seems to come at the right time seeing the economic hardship faced by Nigerian citizens, Borno residents inclusive.

The Nigerian Labour Congress, Borno State Chapter, commended the move, describing the minimum wage paid as the best so far in the North East region.

The NLC further stated that other states could emulate the Borno State government by paying similar wages or even more to their workers as it is believed that other states in the North East are not doing better presently.

The Chairman of the NLC, Comr Inuwa Yusuf, said 'let me also join in commending the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for serving our people, especially the workers.'
