Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has on Monday distributed over N350 million to 35,000 women in Dikwa town as part of emergency relief support to vulnerable communities.

Each woman received N10,000 in cash and a wrapper to ease the hardship caused by recent pest invasions that destroyed farmlands and disrupted livelihoods.

The governor also provided two bags of rice and sorghum each to 18,000 male heads of households to help families facing food shortages.

The event took place at the outer premises of the Shehu of Dikwa’s palace, where thousands of residents gathered to receive the support.

The governor said the intervention was part of efforts to cushion the impact of quelea bird attacks and other challenges that have severely affected food production in the area.

He explained that while humanitarian aid had been reduced due to improved security and increased farming activity, the scale of destruction required swift government action.

'This support is necessary because many families lost a significant portion of their farm produce due to pest invasion,' Gov. Zulum said.

He assured residents that his administration remains committed to supporting communities during difficult times.
