The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Youth Entrepreneurs (NACCIMA NYE) has organized a seminar to support young entrepreneurs and start-ups in Borno State, on Wednesday.
The event provided valuable guidance on business networking, renewable energy opportunities, and compliance with anti-money laundering laws.
Hajiya Halima Isa Ibrahim, NACCIMA NYE Borno State Coordinator, highlighted the association's role in helping young business owners succeed.
She encouraged participants to register with NACCIMA NYE, citing benefits such as market intelligence, business support, and dispute resolution services.
'NACCIMA NYE is more than an association; it’s a partner in your growth,' she said.
The seminar also explored opportunities in Nigeria's green economy, with Saadatu Muhammad Ali, State Coordinator of Women in Renewable Energy (WIRE), discussing investments in solar, hydropower, and biomass.
She noted that while initial costs are high, long-term operational costs are low, and environmental benefits are significant.
Alh. Jamilu Saleh of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) educated participants on regulations under the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML).
He warned that registering with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) alone is not enough, stressing that SCUML registration is mandatory and free.
'SCUML is not just a legal requirement—it protects your business from being misused for money laundering or terrorist financing,' Saleh said.
He reminded entrepreneurs to report cash transactions above ₦5 million from individuals and ₦10 million from companies, warning that failure to do so could implicate businesses in financial crimes.
Participants gained valuable insights on navigating Borno's business environment and avoiding financial risks.
The seminar equipped them with the knowledge to pursue opportunities while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.NACCIMA NYE empowers Borno entrepreneurs, emphasizes financial compliance
