The Borno State Government has responded to the early morning flooding caused by the overflow of Alau Dam, which has affected residents living along the riverbanks in Maiduguri.

As reported earlier by this paper, the flood has caused significant damage to properties and displaced many residents, particularly in the Gwange area.

In a move to address the situation, Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum has sent a high-powered delegation to assess the impact of the flood and take necessary measures to prevent further damage.

The delegation, led by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, visited the Alau Dam on Thursday to evaluate the situation.

The SSG reassured residents that the government is working closely with the Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) to control the situation and prevent further flooding in Maiduguri.

'We have discussed and seen what to do, but the rumor of Maiduguri being flooded is not there,' he stated.

The government's prompt response aims to alleviate the suffering of affected residents and prevent further damage to properties and infrastructure.
