The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off a nationwide sensitization campaign in Maiduguri, Borno State, to address five critical issues affecting Nigeria's well-being, unity, and development.

The campaign, themed 'Promoting Awareness, Ethical Values, and National Development,' was launched by Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of NOA, represented by Michael Daniel Bdliya, State Director of NOA Borno Chapter on Tuesday.

According to Bdliya, the campaign aims to promote awareness, ethical values, and national development, and to encourage collective action and active participation from all Nigerians.

The five key focus areas of the campaign include World HIV/AIDS Day, Security Awareness, Shunning the Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome, World Human Rights Day, and Tax Reform.

Bdliya explained that the campaign on World HIV/AIDS Day aims to raise awareness and promote free HIV testing, counseling, and antiretroviral treatment nationwide.

On security awareness, he said the campaign seeks to strengthen security architecture, expand policing initiatives, and deploy technology to combat criminal activities.

He added that the campaign also aims to discourage the get-rich-quick syndrome by implementing youth empowerment programs, supporting small and medium enterprises, and criminalizing fraudulent practices.

He noted that the campaign will focus on promoting human rights awareness, particularly on World Human Rights Day, by strengthening legal frameworks to address human rights violations, including gender-based violence and child trafficking.

The campaign will also raise awareness on the tax reform bills, which aim to streamline taxation and tax administration in Nigeria.

Bdiya added that the campaign is expected to be taken to all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and the 774 local government areas in the country.
